Peer Pressure is a collection of essays previously published online between 2010 and 2011. In the author’s words, “each essay is an impassioned description or prescription to understand the digital space we inhabit differently.” Most of these writings have been highly influential for the (relatively) small community the author addresses, eliciting many heated debates. The texts idealistically address creative platforms, image aggregators, relational practices, internet memes and much more. Brad Troemel makes and writes about art on the internet. His writing has been featured in magazines and books. His art has been featured in galleries and sometimes even museums. He has earned two degrees from prestigious American art schools. ulises Carrión - El arte nuevo de hacer libros
Una obra que clama la muerte del libro tal y como lo conocemos es lo que Ulises Carrión aborda en El arte nuevo de hacer libros. Si bien este provocativo texto se encuentra fácilmente en internet, en esta edición se retoma el escrito original publicado por primera vez en el suplemento literario Plural: crítica y literatura del periódico mexicano Excélsior en 1975. No sólo eso, El arte nuevo de hacer libros reaparece no como libro -una afrenta que no nos podíamos permitir-, sino como libro-camisa: las palabras y reflexiones de Carrión vienen distribuidas en un póster que después de unos dobleces se convierte en la envoltura de otro libro. Sólo así, abrazando a un libro cualquiera, esta edición de El arte nuevo de hacer libros puede llamarse libro.

Ulises Carrión - The new art of making books
In this text, Ulises Carrión, claims the death of the book as we know it. It easy to find through a web search, but this edition is the original manuscript as printed in “Plural:crítica y literatura” (1975) a literary supplement in mexican newspaper Excelsior. This unique publication comes as a book wrapper, taking over the cover of old books with reactionary words inviting us to think of new ways of making books.

SEND BACK MY STAMPS! is a site dedicated to reproducing interviews and ephemera from Fanzines produced in the early days of the death metal underground. This era was notable for its pre-internet production of DIY media, that followed the punk tradition born out of the 80s, and gave life and communication to a disparate, global fan base within the then nascent thrash/death/black/grind underground. I will post as many interesting pieces as I can whenever I can, mostly stemming from the stacks of zines I collected from the mid/late 1980′s until the late 1990′s period, before the internet (mostly) killed the DIY print media underground. A lot of these Zines will fade into history and be forgotten, so here is a place to hopefully immortalize the endless hours of work that went into getting the death/black/metal underground started in the glory days of yesteryear. PS. The name “Send Back My Stamps!” is a reference to a prevalent technique meant to save money in the late 80s/early 90s, whereby the global mail system was sort of “scammed” by people who would smear glue (or whatever) over their stamps, so that when the ink hit them to “cancel” them at the post office, the ink was thus blocked by the glue. It was then asked that the person receiving the letter cut out and ‘send back the stamps,’ where upon return the glue was wiped off with a wet cloth, thereby making the stamps continually ‘new’ and reusable.

Directly inspired by the yearbook from high school in Seattle where Charles Burns was educated in the early 70’s, they are ten teenagers more or less affected by the epidemic of plague teenage affecting the protagonists of this major work of contemporary graphic scene.
